Former President Donald Trump disclosed a medical report from his post-presidential physician, Dr. Bruce Aronwald. The document, spanning a single page, offers a positive assessment of Trump’s health, noting a notable weight loss since his departure from the White House.

The timing of this release coincides with Joe Biden’s 81st birthday, amid ongoing comments by Trump regarding Biden’s age. Trump, currently 77, continues to be a vocal figure in the political landscape.
Dr. Aronwald’s report also mentions administering a cognitive test to Trump, with the results reportedly indicating exceptional cognitive abilities. However, the report lacks specifics regarding the nature of the questions or whether the test resembled the one conducted by Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) during Trump’s presidency.

Trump had previously expressed his willingness to undergo cognitive testing. His last such examination was in 2020, around the same time then-candidate Joe Biden underwent a physical that included a neurological exam but not a dementia-specific test. CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, in 2021, noted that Biden’s neurological evaluation focused more on motor skills and sensory abilities.

The New York Times described the test as a brief screening tool for cognitive issues. Dr. Jason Karlawish, a dementia researcher at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, criticized the manner in which mental health discussions were being framed in this context.

Trump has repeatedly claimed to have excelled in these tests, even stating on Fox that he found the memory section challenging. His latest medical report echoes this narrative, describing his physical and cognitive evaluations as well within normal ranges and his lab results as particularly favorable, attributing these improvements to weight loss.

The report concludes by affirming Trump’s excellent health, attributing it to a healthier diet, regular physical activity, and a commitment to preventative health care. This marks a departure from Trump’s earlier views on exercise, as documented in Evan Osnos’s “How Trump Could Get Fired” and the book “Trump Revealed” by Mike Kranisch and Marc Fisher, where Trump likened the human body to a battery with limited energy, leading him to eschew physical exercise.
