“National Security vs International Aid”: House Speaker Johnson’s Stance Threatens Government Shutdown

In a White House meeting with President Joe Biden and congressional leaders this week, House Speaker Mike Johnson unequivocally expressed his intention to prevent a government shutdown, even if it means passing a stop-gap measure that he would prefer not to do.
